Advancement in automotive production is fueled at the international level to address and respond to the global issues of climate change adaptation and mitigation, by which automobiles are one of the significant contributors. The study explored the emergent pattern of the leading countries in terms of production and innovation in automotive technology and how other countries compete and adapt to the developments. The researcher used secondary data to explore the complexity of behavior in the automotive industry in terms of production and their emergent behavior on how they adapt to the new trend and new environment. The study utilized Thamprasert’s dataset on the 2018 Technology Achievement Index and the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufactures’ 2018 production statistics. Findings revealed that the technology achievement index has no significant relation to automotive production. However, it becomes advantageous for the countries to produce high-quality and advanced equipment for commercialization. Henceforth, knowledge countries lead in both technology production and innovation in the automotive sector, which becomes a pattern to adapt by non-knowledge countries. In this manner, the systems created by the knowledge countries will gear toward achieving automotive 4.0.
