The training needs assessment based on profile analysis by using the social survey method helped in identifying the basic courses needed of the day-care teachers of Tomas Oppus, Southern Leyte. Most of the day-care teachers did not meet the prescribed standard of the Department of Education. All of them are female; however few are beyond 45 years old and attained only a high school level education which did not meet the DSWD standard. Five basic courses needs are perceived by these teachers: Numeracy & Art, The Day-care Daily Routine, Music (Songs, Poetry & Movement), Principles & Strategies of Teaching Pre-school, and Classroom Management.
